As part of our Autumn Term enrichment experiences, a group of Three Bridges learners enjoyed a fantastic visit to the Seal Sanctuary in Gweek on 9 December 2025. The visit offered a unique opportunity for learners to meet rescued marine animals, learn about the sanctuary’s vital conservation work, and experience the calm, therapeutic environment of the Cornish coast.
During the visit, the group had the chance to say a special hello to Jinx the seal on behalf of our Principal, Lisa Smith, who proudly sponsors him. Learners were fascinated to hear Jinx’s story and discover how the sanctuary supports injured, sick and orphaned seals before safely releasing them back into the wild.
This wonderful visit was generously gifted to our learners in recognition of the brilliant work they have done this year supporting Surfers Against Sewage through a beach clean. The team at the sanctuary wanted to celebrate their efforts in helping keep our coastline clean and safe for wildlife.
Lisa Smith, Principal of Three Bridges School, said:
“This visit was such a meaningful experience for our learners. Not only did they gain valuable insights into marine rescue and conservation, but they also saw first-hand the positive impact their own environmental work can have. We are extremely proud of their continued commitment to caring for their community and the natural world.”
A huge well done to all the learners who took part, and a heartfelt thank you to the Seal Sanctuary team for their warmth, generosity and inspirational work.
